New Foster Parent Mentor program |

Foster youth can now stay in foster care until age 21! KBYH is actively recruting families to considering being a mentor family for emanicpating foster youth. Informational Meeting on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 and Thursday, February 2nd 2012 at Kern Bridges Youth Homes.Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to Kathy at 661-396-2301
If I foster a Non-Minor Dependent, what is required? 1. Provide a safe & healthy living environment. 2. Develop a Shared Living Agreement. 3. Mentor Non-Minor Dependent (NMD) in transitional living skills. 4. Utilize foster payment funds to feed, clothe, and assist NMD.
Youth Requirements In order to be in foster care from age 18 until his or her 21st birthday, a youth must meet one of the following requirements: 1. Be enrolled in a program of secondary education 2. Be enrolled in post secondary or vocational education 3. Participate in a program designed to remove barriers to employment 4. Employed for at least 80 hours a month 5. Be mentally or physically incapable of doing any of the above

Effective 1/1/12, KBYH will be offering Independent Adoption Home Study services. This program aims to serve families who are interested in pursuing an independent adoption (i.e. non-foster care relinquishments). KBYH will conduct the adoption home study that is required on a fee-for-service basis with competitive rates, competent adoption professionals, and will work in conjunction with other adoption professionals (i.e. adoption attorneys). We believe Adoption is a life-long process that no one should have to navigate alone. KBYH offers an adoption support group designed to assist families who have adopted, want to adopt, are in the process of adoption, or who want to find our more about Foster Care Adoption. Childcare and dinner is provided. Foster parents can receive training hours for attending. Second Tuesday of Every Month. Pleas RSVP to Jessica at 661-396-2357 if you would like to attend.
