KBYH has been provding adoption services since 1999.  The program originally served to assist KBYH foster parents in adopting foster youth in their care.  Each each year KBYH participated in the completion of an increasing number of adoptions and began to serve relatives who were adopting  in addition to foster parents.  KBYH now participates in the completion of over 60 adoptions per year.

There are no fees for pre-adoptive families imposed by KBYH and KBYH is often able to reimburse families for miscellaneous expenses they incur as part of the Adoption process.

KBYH has an on-site Adoptions Resource Room at their main site, 1321 Stine Road.  This room is available to all pre and post-adoptive families at any phase of their adoption and whenever they have a need.  The Adoptions Resource Room is equipped with an internet ready computer where families can research resources, a printer in order to print out any needed forms or resource information, a large library of periodicals, adoption related books, parenting books, and other resources that families can check out or keep, a large TV and couch for families to watch parenting or training DVD’s that are available in the room.  The room can also be used as a meeting place for consultation or for KBYH staff to provide counseling.

KBYH is able to provide additional services including:
●Notary services.  KBYH has a full-time employee who maintains a Notary license.  She is available free of charge for any adoption related Notary services.
●Outlying areas/state-wide needs.  KBYH understands that at times it may be necessary to travel to remote locations of Kern County or at times to other locations within California.  KBYH is willing to make accommodations in order to meet those needs as they occur.

KBYH will offer a variety of post-adoption services to families.  These include:
●24-hour crisis hotline
●Counseling services for the child(ren) and/or family
●Post Adoption support group
